The Hand of the Gods Shall be the last thing you see A slow breath was heard in the deep silence of the forest. A single girl, seemingly completely alone in the shadowy depths, in an area completely cut off from the normally bright and cheery Halo Forest. As the shade flickered over her face, a few rays of light broke through the foilage, briefly illuminating the face of the girl. Hey eyes, seemingly closed, framed by medium length dark hair, snapped open, her smile contorting into a snarl as the breath fully left her body.
A quick inhale, and her body snapped into movement, her previosuly loose pose suddenly leaping forward, a burst of acceleration propelling her towards a tree in front of her. One arm was curled in front of her, the other pulled back as if to punch the tree in front of her. She leapt into the air, her powerful legs propelling her forward and up, and she flung her right arm forward, but instead of hitting the the tree, it curver around, twisting her body as her leg swung out, the momentum of her punch swinging it around, a dark blur followed by a dull thud as her foot connected with the tree.
Her other leg, pulled up towards her, her knee pressed against her chest, flung out, as if a spring had been released, a light flicker of flame running along her leg as it connected with the tree. She continued applying the intense force against the solid oak, the pressure sending her flying back a few meters, a small wisp of smoke coming from where her heated kick had impacted with the tree. Her eyes narrowed again, her eyebrows tilting down slightly, a hint of disapproval on her face. She needed to be stronger. Much stronger.
It was a dark night, and a group of girls were sitting around a campfire in the forest. One of the girls leaned forward, and held a torch up to her face, a terrifying horror story being told. The five other girls looked around, terrified at the story, and the horrible creature that was supposedly haunting this area of the woods, a fallen champion, one that preyed on the weak. A forest wanderer, hunting down groups of people with his large two handed sword. But as the girl came to the climax of the story, she suddenly stopped, her eyes opening in shock. She looked down, her eyes full of fear, as a large blade pointed out of her chest, before being pulled up, ripping her torso and head in half.
After that, the images blurred together, become a series of frantic screams and yells, girls running amid a horrible cackling laughter and the singing of a blade slicing through the air. Strike after strike the blade cut down the girls in the group, until the only two left were Gem and her friend. The man turned to them, and licked his lips, before pointing his sword at the pair. They stood up, and tried to run, but tripped over, sprawling over as the man slowly came closer. A sick grin twisted his face, before he slammed his sword down, impaling Gems friend, twisting the blade as a scream tore out of her mouth.
The next thing Gem remembered, she was on her knees, holding her friends body in her arms, the serial killers body laying dismembered beside her. And on her arms, were two large claws, soaked in the blood of the killer and her friend. Tears ran down her face, staining the dead girls cheeks, and the large blue claws faded, but Gem could still feel them. And she would get stronger. She would never let this happen again.
She took up a fighting pose again, running at the tree again, her legs pumping as she leapt towards the tree, twisting her body to send her leg flying against the tree. ""Faster..." She muttered, putting every fibre of her being into this kick, as small flickers of flame ran up her leg. ""Faster!" A loud yell exploded out of her mouth as she pulled her leg back, missing the tree with her first kick but using it to spin even faster, her other leg shooting out like a spring, the flames chasing up her legs exploding into an inferno as her leg swung around, slamming into the tree and cutting a deep gouge into the side, a charred indentation cutting into the side of the tree.
Gem pulled her leg away, jumping back and looking at the smoking chunk missing from the tree, a small smile on her face. ""Much better."

There was certainly nothing like a nice little stroll through the forest, for no particular reason, to get one's mind off of stressful matters, like dealing with peasants and people trying to take her hacksilver, whether through begging, or sales, or mugging. Seriously, it would be nice if everybody realized that the tycoon could pinch a penny, or in this case, a pound of silver, so hard she'd leave an imprint of her fingers. Which would probably be pretty helpful for maintaining claim on her cash, and identifying it when stolen. Not a bad idea. She wrote it on a waiter's pad and chucked it back into her coat pocket. See? This walk was already relieving stress. Such tranquility did her well, and she closed her eyes to picture what today's fortunes would bring. Somewhere in the back of her mind, memories of her life flashed by.
Images of her headquarters, in the capital... Her loyal subjects/customers paying her money daily for high-quality products... Protestors trying to convince people that her pudding was addictive... Her loyal legionnaires massacring said protestors, as a warning to dissenters. Ah, yes... Those were the glory days, before her assassination. She could even think back to her first cash register. It made such a pretty dinging sound when she opened it to scam some suckers out of their hard-earned dough.
Ding... Ding... Ding... DiCRASH... DiBOOM... TREEng...
Oh, what now?
She glanced up, her ears flicking back in annoyance as she sought out the disturbance, soon locating a woman who was... Kicking the shit out of some trees, it seemed. Not exactly a normal hobby, but hey, this was the afterlife. Great melting pot of freaks and circus acts, as well as the more civilized and proper warriors such as herself. If kicking trees was this chick's thing, it wasn't up to the pink-haired animu cat thing to stop her. And so Valdís just kinda stood back and observed. She was awfully fast and pretty strong. And clearly kicking the shit out of some trees, as noted before. Hm. Perhaps with a bit more experience in the affairs of being dead, the pudding queen would be equally capable of kicking through trees and the like, preferably while flipping them off and shouting "FUCK YOU, YOU XYLOPHONIC JERKS," or something of that ilk. For now, she'd have to settle for seeing the professional do it.
But of course, it would be pretty creepy if she just kinda stood there, watching the girl punt down a forest, seemingly secluded in the forest. Or well, creepy after like, five minutes of silent observation. That was basically like a rule of social conduct or something. Thou shalt not stare at some random floozy kicking trees like a champion kickboxer, at least not in excess of five minutes. She couldn't argue with that. It was the law. Thems the rules and such.
Of course, she did eventually speak up, after said five minutes, throwing a casual remark to the wannabe lumberjack. "So, having fun, are we? Them trees do anything to you, or do you just not like them on principle?" She leaned against a tree, her small frame easing cozily against the curvature of the large birch as she brought up a foot to rest on the bark behind her, crossing her arms over her chest. It was a pretty overdone standard coolkid pose, but she didn't care, because she could rock it like it was her own creation. "Valdís, by the way, Valdís Raghild Heldätter." Saying nothing else, she flicked her tail side to side a few times, lazily lounging against the tall piece of nature's furniture. Quickly tiring of that, she stood straight again and walked over to a smaller tree, sizing it up. Not quite on the training girl's level yet, in terms of strength, though still a nice bit above average, she figured it wouldn't take too many hits to fell the thing.
Drawing back her fist, she swung a hard left to the bark, resulting in quite a decent crack and the splintering of bark and bits of wood alike. Her knuckles a bit sore from the impact, she nonetheless went at it again, with a right jab, aiming for the same spot. The crack deepened as more wood bits were sundered. Well, this was pretty entertaining, in retrospect. Who'd have thought punching trees could actually be an entertaining thing ow splinter between knuckles. With a slight twitch of her nose, an irate viking warrior triumphantly unsheathed the tiny sliver of wood from between her middle and ring fingers' knuckles. She could deal with all manner of stab wounds, bruises, and at least twice, gunshots, but splinters were always the most irritating and persistent, to her. It was probably because trees are dicks. Just look at them, their clear phallic symbolism made it obvious that they were dicks. Dicks made of splinters.
A few more punches and, indeed, the tree didn't really want to fall, and then she was bored again. Wow, she had a very short attention span. Probably something to do with being partially a cat, cats aren't really known for being very attentive to tasks that no don't keep them interested. And so she retreated back to her former position at the larger tree, to watch the other tree-slayer at work. Eh. If she'd really wanted to knock the tree down, she could've hit harder. That chick must really not like trees.

Most people see forests as places of relaxation. That, of course, or freaky-ass horror show settings. Either way, they accommodate both the happy and the morbid. It was the afterlife, after all. You could do whatever you wanted in them, really. There was always the chance of dying and having some fucking squirrel steal your soul, but it depended on the situation, really. Blake had heard rumors about a rather rabid squirrel out there. The damn thing had probably wracked in a good dozen or so souls. How and why this little rodent was hoarding souls was a great question, but not one that relates very well to the current story. Fixing the fourth wall, we continue.
Blake hadn’t planned on doing much that day. He had planned to sit around in his room and do something productive that didn’t involve death. There was always the chance of dying of boredom, but Blake wasn’t sure if that was even a thing. If it was, though, the soul would probably recycle back to himself anyway. Because of this logic and the realization that he was driving himself insane, Blake decided to leave for a bit. The forest seemed like a good idea to him at the time, being that it was probably quiet and secluded. It was a better idea than wandering around the city and/or other populated areas.
Cresting the hill and seeing two feminine figures punching the fuck out of the trees was not exactly something Blake expected. Actually, he wasn’t really expecting anything upon arrival, but if he had been this would not have been on that list. Instead of wondering why, the first thought that crossed Blake’s mind was how the hell they were even doing that. Where one was simply pulling splinters from her knuckles, the other was, quite literally, on fire as she pummeled the tree. How, why, and very many other questions flew in and out of Blake’s mind before remembering that he’d been standing there staring at the two. Feeling rather weak, as he guessed it would take a lot out of a person to be able to shred a tree, Blake debated for a moment if he could turn around and walk back without being noticed.
Sighing, he moved a step closer, ready to run if need be. “I’m curious as to what the tree did to piss you off.” He stated, snorting quietly. It was a sight, that’s for sure. “Unless this is of some training regimen, though I’d suggest other ways to train.” Moving around to watch the pink haired one, as she didn’t seem quite as terrifying as the one that had managed to hit the tree hard enough to make it smoke. “Are we all masochistic here, or is there a particular reason you’re breaking the bodies you’ll be toting around for the rest of your ‘life’?”

"What a pain..." A redheaded teen with a gravely voice sluggishly made his way around the trees and foliage of the forest, his green outfit ripped in various places. He'd get the three who'd dragged him out here back eventually... somehow... maybe... Actually it'd be useless to even try. Out of everyone in Asgard, Roku was quite possibly the weakest. That's probably why he was so easy to trick into this "hunting trip" the other three boys had promised while bringing him through the Entertainment District. Usually he would have declined right away, but the prospect of being lead through and gaining some power from just being there was too great. In the end the others had just beaten him up, left him tied to a tree, and taunted him with tales of a serial killer who supposedly roamed this place looking for unsuspecting teenagers to slay before running off.
Hearing what seemed like a fight going on, the boy jumped in fright, ducking for cover within a bush. He poked his head out nervously, gazing out on the going's on, only to find that... Some people were fighting trees for whatever reason. Wait, was that even productive in the slightest? Could be like that eyebrow guy, simply doing endurance training, but they didn't really have the looks of any sort of martial artists. He crawled his way out from the bushes and slowly jogged over, probably seeming like a complete weirdo with his clothes torn up as he raised a hand in a half-wave before stopping.
"Uh, what's up? You guys trying to get some apples to fall down or something?" He looked up into the branches, noticing the trees weren't even fruit-bearing, "Or... not. Okay, what exactly are you even doing?" He stopped as he heard the other redhead's comment, looking down at his hands.
"Nah, I've died plenty of times, I always come back with the same body completely healed though." Roku rubbed beneath his nose with his sleeve to wipe away a bit of blood that began to trickle down. Maybe it wasn't the wisest move to make it known how easily he'd found dying to be here. It didn't really matter much though, he was probably destined to lose this game anyway. Then maybe he could rest in peace like he was supposed to, this entire thing was just a drag. All that work being put into just making sure he stayed at the same three souls he started with, it was definitely more than he'd prefer.
"Uhh... Anyway, my name's Rokuro Hasukara, but my friends call me Roku. Or, they would if I had any." The Loser gave a nervous chuckle and scratched the back of his neck. This was probably going to either be extremely awkward or he was going to die. Or both.

Gem eyed the smoking crater she had gouged into the tree, and she was sure she could do better. She wouldn't have to rely on her Claws every time, and could defend herself without going into a rage if need be. It was a small hope, and a small goal, but one Gem felt she needed to reach. They were powerful, but there was something about those claws she didn't like, especially how she couldn't seem to summon them unless she was angry. Something she tried very hard to avoid, especially in this world. She snapped out of her musings, and took a deep breath, preparing to attack the tree again, sure she could cleave the thing in half. Just before she attacked the tree, however, a voice came out of nowhere, the surprise making her spin around and lose her footing, tripping over herself and falling onto her rear.
"I... Uh." She stuttered out, not sure what to say, an abashed look on her face, having been discovered. She stood up, brushing herself off, before turning to the girl in front of her. "No, I just didn't want to hurt anyone while training." She smiled at the girl, nodding towards her, clasping her hands in front of her. "It's nice to meet you Valdis, I'm Gem Stone." She watched the girl walk towards a different tree, slightly smaller than the one she had been kicking, but a fairly large tree nonetheless. She watched the first few punches curiously, surprised at the smaller girls strength.
Watching the other girl punching the tree reminded Gem to keep training, and she turned back to the tree in front of her, walking towards it slowly. She wasn't really sure why, but she didn't feel like training right now. Something about kicking trees in front of other people just seemed... weird, to her. And it wasn't like she liked fighting. She just wanted to be able to defend herself against others. She sighed, and gave a few half assed kicks at the tree, before being interrupted yet again. By two people this time, arriving quite close to each other. She looked around, her eyebrow cocking at the sudden realization that she was the only one here whose hair wasn't a shade of red.
She sighed, and dropped her leg. How did this even happen. She chose the most secluded, darkest, untravelled place in this forest, and somehow three people happened to walk in on her kicking trees within minutes of each other. It was, when you thought about it, quite ridiculous. Either that, or planned. Or simply bad luck. There was no need to start being paranoid of everyone, that was even worse than getting killed. Well. Maybe not worse. But still quite bad. "Well, this tree didn't do anything to me, though I was nearly killed by one before." She let out a small giggle, though the incident involving the centaur and tree was still a bit too close for her comfort.
"He's right." She said, nodding to the other redhead, Rokuro, he had called himself, she thought? "If you die, you come back to life fully healed, and even our bodies slowly heal naturally if left for long enough. Though, any disabilities you had in the real world seem to stay with you, unless you are extremely lucky." She turned to the other man, the one who seemed to be quite harsh on himself. "Well, I'm Gem, and if you want, I'll be your friend!" She gave him a large smile, because while this wasn't really an ideal situation, there was nothing Gem loved more than meeting new people. | [attr="class","uhm"]And this was how she got known as tree girl. | [attr="class","uhm"]618 |

Valdis' ears perked up slightly as she smiled, feeling quite accomplished with this feat of socializing that she had done just then. "Well, I suppose that makes sense, haha. The pleasure is mutual, Gem." It was pretty nice to see that the girl before her was capable of communicating in manners other than kicking. While kicking was a fantastic form of language, good old conversation whatwith the words and the talking and the hey hey what what was a timeless classic. Or well, was until the advent of all kinds of high-tech devices and stuff. It still mildly amused the feline that there were some here who had never even contemplated the thought of a hologram, let alone used them in daily business. Her planet was just so much more sophisticated than most of these peasants. Speaking of which, here come a few now, she thought to herself, in her vastly superior little kitty cat brain.
The first to arrive was some guy in an admittedly decent vest, but otherwise nothing else giving off any semblance of wealth, or even of serviceability. At least Gem's boots and such looked functionally useful and pretty cool. He just looked kinda drab, to the monopolistic little tyrant. Nevertheless, she smiled pleasantly at him. "Masochism usually makes for fun tree-kicking parties, I'd say. Though I, personally, just chanced by and decided, hey, why not? I could always kill some time punching trees while I wait for my tons of hacksilver to arrive at my office. You may not be aware, but I am, hehe, considerably wealthy. Doesn't matter whether it's life or the afterlife, profit is always the main objective. Food for thought, yaknow?" Ahh, it did her heart good to enlighten some random guy about the joys of being rich.
The second of the two newcomers made his presence known, then, answering an unspoken question of the first. In a somewhat pitiful manner, actually, she almost felt a pang of sympathy for the poor guy. But not really, pffft. Dying wasn't really her schtick; she was a warrior, and that was more her cup of tea than getting axed constantly. Fortunately for his dignity, Gem reiterated his point in a much less sad and pathetic manner. "Yep, yep, they're both correct; your body here pretty much keeps itself intact so you won't have to worry about being assassinated in a hospital bed or something. A lot more convenient than y'know. Being assassinated on a hospital bed." Unfortunately, this was pretty much what happened to Valdis. She preferred not to mention such dishonorable things.
So instead, she focused on Roku, as his name was, it seemed. He looked... Well, to be honest, he looked like a school kid. Uniform was wrinkly and in less than optimal shape, however, so she guessed that, despite the slightly wealthier look of such clothing, in general. Not to mention he seemed absolutely terrified of a rather friendly girl, herself, being literally a small woman with fluffy pink cat ears, and a guy who could pass for a homoerotic swimsuit model. "Ya look a little tense, Roku. Pretty sure nobody here's out to get you. Not to my knowledge, anyways. Lighten up, guy. Name's Valdís." Aw man, wait no, she had casually used his shortened first name, that was definitely some sign of the human emotion called friendship, an emotion that she hadn't particularly wanted to display to him. Curses. Well, now she supposed she sounded a lot friendlier than intended; quite a striking contrast to her ordinarily ruthless manners. Ahh well, at least he was unlikely to ruin her reputation, whatwith being obviously poor and the exact opposite of influential and all. No harm done, really.
"So this is a strange coincidence. Four people meet up in the forest, out of the blue. Kinda funny, eh?" Kinda funny, indeed. She could only imagine what sort of things were likely soon to follow, and most of them were pretty awkward conversations. Who knew, though, maybe some form of action besides punching trees would come up?

Blake hadn’t noticed the newcomer, but when he did he grimaced ever so slightly. Blake himself didn’t have many friends either, but he rationalized that it wouldn’t be the wisest move to mention that, or the fact that he dies often. Given the information the others gave about death and how it affects the body, Blake decided to not mention that he was new to this land. He’d only recently died and didn’t feel the information was all that relevant to the conversation, not that he was partaking in it anyway.
Simply standing, hands shoved into his pockets, Blake watched the others as they conversed. He wasn’t very interested in speaking with them, but felt that walking away would require some form of dismissal. It could be interesting to just listen to them speak, and perhaps he could learn more about how tree-punching was a good idea. He wasn’t very skilled, save for his ability to shoot, and could use the training, if it proved to be of any use. At the moment, it only really seemed useful in breaking knuckles and getting splinters, but you never really knew.
" So this is a strange coincidence. Four people meet up in the forest, out of the blue. Kinda funny, eh?"
He’d zoned out thinking about various things when he heard the pink-haired one speak again. Valdís, he believed. It was at such moment that he realized he was the only one there that had yet to give away his name, but at this point he didn’t feel much like blurting it out, as it wouldn’t quite flow into the conversation. From what he did get from what they were saying, it wouldn’t have been important anyway. The girl that’d been kicking the tree, Gem, seemed nice enough, but he didn’t want to fuck with her for fear of her kicking a burning hole in his gut. As for Valdís, she seemed more intent to let everyone know about her wealth than anything else. Blake was rather surprised someone of “such standing” would be out dirtying her nails, but it was part of the game. Kill or be killed, a broken nail wouldn’t matter much. As for the other redhead, Blake figured he wasn’t even worth it. He seemed like a baby of sorts, especially after mentioning that he had no friends. Not only was this weak, but perhaps even a tactical approach. Feign weakness and kill the girls. Blake had to at least admire him for that, if that was what he was really doing.
Yeah.” Blake nodded, shrugging his shoulders as he looked back towards the open area. “Any plans, then? Or are we going to continue punching trees?”Scoffing, Blake just turned and leaned against one of the trees, deciding he’d stick around or a bit. It beat sitting around, anyway. “ I’d care to learn more about the health benefits of such an activity”

Roku gave a chuckle, "Sure, I mean, if you wanna hang out or whatever I wouldn't mind." Honestly, the way the brown-haired girl had been kicking that tree, she seemed like as good an ally to have as any. Only difference between her and the rest of the typical crowd in Asgard was that the girl was nice. Not to mention nice to look at. Perverted thoughts aside, he'd definitely do his best to make sure she stayed that polite towards him.
To the other girl... cat... thing, however, he gave a sour expression, "I'm not tense! I mean, I am, but not usually!" The redhead pulled a comb from his pocket and began to run it through his magnificent 'do, "You try being tied to a tree and left for dead by four goons, it ain't that fun, y'know?" He flipped the comb between his fingers and pocketed it once more with a grin. Roku paid not mind to the other guy, Blake or whatever. Wasn't exactly in his best interest to get pulled into conversation with a guy who tried too hard to pull off the edgy cool dude look. It was pretty conceited and usually meant you had no business trusting the person. Body language was pretty key, he'd picked at least that much up in his time here.

RANDOM EVENT!
IT'S HAPPENING
Your party hears a thundering stomping sound coming from the north horizon, something that sounded like a stampede was about to start. This was fact, but it was no livestock that would be rampaging, but a group of angered ents. The tree monsters, five of them to be exact, come from all around, peaking through the trees and stepping around them to surround the four warriors. There would be no reasoning with them, these creatures were not able to understand human speech. If the party didn't move quickly, they would go right ahead with stomping upon them. [attr="class","next"]Gem stayed quiet when Valdis was talking, a small smile quirking the corner of her lips up as the cat girl bantered with the rest of their group. When she started talking about how incredibly wealthy she was, Gem chuckled lightly, and turned back to Roku, a bright smile on her face. "That sounds great! I'll let you organise it, here, send me a message when you're free." She pulled out a bit of paper and a pen, and wrote her number down, passing it to Roku. "I don't really do much, so I should be free most of the time." A image quickly popped into her head, of Roku as a puppy, and tried to supress a smile.
She turned to Valdis, walking over to her. "Here, you can have it too!" She handed Valdis a piece of paper, her number written on it. Her face broke into a grin, before she looked over at the other man. She didn't really know who he was, and didn't really like him much so far. He seemed kind of arrogant, not introducing his name, and being rude to them on top of that. While normally, she wouldn't give her contact details to people like him, she felt kind of bad excluding him, and walked over to him, handing him a piece of paper as well. "I'm Gem, in case you didn't hear it before. Here, you can have it too, the more the-"
She stopped talking, freezing as her ears picked up on some noise. "Roku... I don't think your killers are our biggest problem right now. Something is coming." She closed her eyes, listening intently to the noise. "It sounds like..." She shook her head, her eyes snapping to the direction the noises were coming from. "I'm not sure, but there are a lot of them. We should probably run." As soon as the words left her mouth, the stampede of ents got closer, the 5 Ents quickly shifting between the trees to surround the party, the small glade they were in suddenly becoming more like an Arena.
Gem slowly backed away from the treeline, her arms up defensively. "Or maybe not..." | [attr="class","uhm"]Trees. Gems Mortal Enemies | [attr="class","uhm2"]362 |

Valdis offered a glance at the yet-to-be-named fourth party, as he spoke, and tried not to laugh outright as he completely bombed being a cool kid. Even threw in a very edgy emo scoff! But she may as well humor the boy anyways. If nothing else, it seemed like a fun thing to do. "There weren't really any plans other than that, to my awareness. Fact! Punching trees is a wonderful stress reliever. And let me tell you, stress is a terrible thing. Especially when your stressor is a multi-million dollar net loss on an investment." She gave a small smile, though as her tail lashed somewhat playfully from the left to the right, there was just a hint of smug superiority hidden beneath said smile. "Though I'm sure you've never had that happen to you before." Ohoho, look at me and my siiiiiiiiiiiilvah. Even my financial losses cost more than you'll ever earn in your life, ohoho. That's what she really meant to say.
But of course, he wasn't even the most pitiable specimen present. Turning as she heard Roku speak up, she had to laugh, especially when he had to fix his hair, mid-excuse. "Relax, relax, man. I get it, you have a hard time staying alive, plenty of reason for being tense." He really was making a case for being the most sad and pathetic of all of the people gathered together in this little secluded forest. The viking girl almost felt a pang of sympathy for him and his plight; until she remembered that she'd very seldom had any issues with staying alive, in the cut-throat world she was born in, or the even more cut-throat world she died into. But at the very least, he was somewhat amusing.
And it seemed that Gem thought he was interesting enough to maintain contact with him, throwing a phone number his way. Always competitive by nature, in anything, Valdis, of course, reached into her pocket, tossing a business card to the loser; two ounces of silver-lined plastic with gold engraving, it was quite the classy card. "While we're giving out numbers, mine should be on that." She gave a grin, flashing two fairly prominent fang-like teeth, alongside numerous others, smaller but razor sharp. A moment later, Gem flew from Roku to herself, handing the pink-haired girl a slip of paper as well, to which Valdis offered a business card as well, tossing one Blake's way as Gem spoke to him, as well.
That all changed when the tree monsters attacked.
Or well, it would have, were they faster. As it were, the Ents were slowly making their way over to the group, but just fast enough to prevent escape. "Well, damn. At least now we've got some live targets, eh?" Though there were quite a few of them, and they did look pretty strong... Valdis glanced at Sir-Dies-a-Lot, and against her best judgment, she mumbled a few magical words, as a glowing light shone down from the sky, a small bowl of rich chocolate pudding appearing in her hands. Almost wincing at the sheer generosity of the act, she handed it to Roku. "Here, have a fighting chance, guy." Having given away her best shot at doing anything major against the trees, she simply drew her war-axe, wordlessly preparing to block whatever tree-punch she was likely to be hit with, if they got any closer.

“ Though I'm sure you've never had that happen to you before
Blake was truly beginning to grow irritated with his girl. With the way she flaunted her money around, it was a wonder she hadn’t been perma-killed yet. She was cute, he had to admit, with the whole cat-thing going on, but her arrogance was nothing of the sort. What was rather cute, was the way both of the girls babied the other red head. It was rather sickening to watch them all, though it was rather sweet that they were concerned over whether or not the man died on their little get together. With Blake’s limited endurance, as well as his speed, he was somewhat jealous of Roku’s treatment, but would never voice such. He was spacing out about this, simply watching the others when he felt the brown-haired girl step up to him and hold something out to him.
"I'm Gem, in case you didn't hear it before. Here, you can have it too, the more the-"
Blake took the card, glancing down at his hands as he did. He wasn’t expecting that, as most people didn’t feel like conversing with him. It was probably his own rudeness, paired up with his inability to socialize with most people. “Thanks. I’m Blake.” He mentioned, pocketing the card just moments before Valdís tossed a much fancier card towards him. Of course it would be coated in silver and gold. He’d expected nothing less from the neko. With traces of a little grin on his face, he then glanced up at Gem, pocketing the silver card. The grin didn’t last long, though, as he noticed the silence in the air. “Wait, what is it? Why’d you stop tal-”
There was no way. This was some sort of movie-style coincidence. There was no fucking way. A group of random people meet up and punch trees for “practice” before being suddenly attacked by walking trees? “Oh.” Blake withdrew the pistols from their holders on his hips, taking a defensive pose as he did so. He’d never punched a tree before, let alone fought a “living” one. To be honest, Blake had actually never been in a real fight here before. Sure, he’d fought on Earth, but never here. He figured whimpering and whining about his lack of skill could help, but he wasn’t about to stoop to Roku’s pitiful level. He was weak, but he wasn’t a loser.
Hands shaking, Blake took aim, though he waited. He wasn’t going to be the hero here. He’d not lost a life yet and preferred to keep it that way. He’d let someone else take the first shot, so they could make the tree-creatures mad. Blake knew he wasn’t strong enough to take the creatures face-on, but could do more damage from a hiding place with the ranged weapons. “I’m beginning to understand the benefits in training to punch trees.

[attr="class","next"]Roku looked over his shoulder just in time to see a giant, wooden stump of a foot crash down in the little clearing the group was conversing in. He began to let out a shrill scream through clinched teeth, but suddenly stopped as the pink-haired kitty cat tossed him... pudding? He'd seen stranger things give people powers here, so, hurriedly, he scarfed down the dessert. Feeling a sudden surge of power, he ripped off his tattered school shirt to reveal a white, high-collared jacket with an orange shirt underneath. Oh, and there went the pants too as he tore them from his legs as if they were tear-aways, revealing a pair of strange pink slacks underneath.

"OH YEAH! BRING IT ON YOU FUCKING," his triumphant, rebel yell was cut extremely short as another of the ents' feet crashed down nearly on top of him. [attr="class","next"]Her eyes flicked around to the rest of her companions. While they didn't seem like the strongest bunch, surely they would be helpful somehow, right? She slowly exhaled, clenching her fists as she surveyed the scene around her. The five Ents had slowly moved around the group, surrounding them without them noticing, almost like a trap of some sorts. A groaning creak distracted her, and she glanced over to the tree she had kicked, the smoking crater still exuding wisps of smoke, a burnt aroma hanging in the air. The groaning sound, however, was coming from an Ent beside the tree, one of the five that had attacked the group, and he did not seem happy. The rest of them started to groan and creak in unison, the branches rustling, an ominous chorus of woodland anger hanging heavily in the air.
When she heard Roku let out a shrill scream, she spun around, ready to defend this stranger she had only just met, but it seemed that Valdis was a step ahead. She spun around, just in time to see the pink haired feline throw some type of food at Roku. She nodded her thanks, and turned back to the scene in front of her just after the golden light surrounded Roku, and his clothes exploded off of him, making him completely... clothed, still. She didn't know what was happening, and didn't really want to, but he seemed stronger. Hopefully he could help now.
She jumped forward, landing beside Blake, noticing the man had pulled out a pair of pistols, and was aiming at an Ent. She laughed at his comment, swiftly replying with "Yeah, let's just hope it paid off. Maybe you should have trained with us instead of being so cool." She winked at him, or as much as she could with her eyes practically closed, before turning back to the Ent, a more serious look on her face. "Hey, those guns... I can trust you, right?" She nodded, before crouching down. "When I say shoot, shoot the Ent in front of me."
She took a deep breath, a single word coming out of her mouth, before leaping forward, the word "Accel" and a slight afterimage the only trace that she had been there. A split second later, she appeared in front of the Ent, her fist raised and the word "Claw!" echoing out. As soon as she said that, she pulled her fist back, before slinging it forward, her arm glowing blue, and increasing in size slightly, before going back to normal. A small burst of flame appeared when she hit, but her face was stuck in a bewildered expression, as if something had gone wrong.
"Huh?"
Her eyes snapped open, staring straight at Blake, as the Ent she had attack let out a pained roar, a large smoking crater on the side of his face. "Shoo-" Was all she got out, before the Ent swung his arm at her, the fist catching her in the stomach and sending her flying towards a tree on the opposite side of the glade, Gem slamming into it with a dull crunch, before sliding down, collapsing onto her knees, dazed and confused. What in the most literal sense of the word fuck.
No, seriously. What in the literal fuck just happened.
That was all Valdis could think as the previously wimpy weenie somehow become stronger AND more of a weenie, setting a bad example for both weenies and non-weenies everywhere, simply by being himself. Everything about him made Valdis want to kill herself, especially the deeply disturbing, almost orgasmic, scream as he tore his schoolboy uniform off (also, seriously? SCHOOLBOY UNIFORM!?) to reveal a slightly tackier coolkid suit underneath, the likes of which only a disgusting homeless man would wear. Or, in this case, Roku. And then, just as Valdis almost had a single faith in the fool boy, he immediately chickened out as one of the ents got a bit too close for comfort. "Oh, come on, Roku! I gave you the pudding, so just keep in mind: I'm literally a cat, there are no available openings for pussies right now. Now kill some trees!" She liked to think she was an excellent motivational speaker. That's what she liked to think.
Her mind shifted then, focusing on Gem. Thus far, she seemed to be the most competent among the ragtag crew, save for possibly the rude man who'd yet to introduce himself properly- she had no idea what he could do. Seemed to be a ranged fighter, by his dual pistols, so he was probably the only person present with an excuse for hanging back and picking them off from afar, if nothing else. Still, it wouldn't do much good if he didn't know how to use said guns, but she did have more faith in him than her nearly extinguished singular faith in Roku. He may well put his money where his mouth's at. But probably not. At the very least, he was holding his guns and aiming them in the right direction. Not really paying mind to what was going on with he and the much faster girl anymore, the pink-haired feline turned her attention to the four Ents they were not fighting.
She cracked her wrist as she tightened her grip on her war-axe. The Ents, despite being a bunch of living trees, weren't anything to make light of. They were slow and a lot more bulk than brawn, but they weren't weak by any means, and worst of all, perhaps, they had the numbers advantage, and a much more tactical stance, having surrounded the small party. Clearly, this was going to be a challenge- Valdis liked a challenge. She glanced down at the weapon in her hands and grinned a toothy grin to herself.. "I feel like a lumberjack." That said, she swung her axe as hard as she could at the nearest Ent, one she instinctively assumed to be the second Ent, obv. More precisely, it was the Ent that was attacking Roku. It was actually pretty bad, but even though they had just met, she somehow felt a pang of responsibility for him, as if she really cared whether he got offed by the trees or not. Probably because that pudding cost good imaginary magic money, and she didn’t want it to go to waste, though. And hopefully, he wasn't dumb enough to get in the way of a large axe... That would not be too pretty.
