living life just like deer in headlights "HOW ABSOLUTELY DEVIANT." A powerful voice called out through the echo of a helmet, speaking to nobody in particular, perhaps the wind and spirits around him. A heavily armored warrior dragged his feet through the darkest corner of Slaughterland, one that he thought would be ripe with evil. He was right; this place had absolutely aberrant decor, but he had not yet found a soul to back the hideous landscape.
Still yet, the knight held his sword and shield ever at the ready; an ambush could come from nowhere. Or worse yet, justice would need to be served in the form of saving another being assaulted. This game was sick, and he would have no part of it, even if his actions ultimately contributed to Death's grisly goals. The knight stopped in front of a haunted house.
There was not much else left to do besides for start to enter all of these worn down old buildings. What kind of afterlife was this, anyway? Not one he had imagined in life, not at all. The one he had imagined was a bright and glorious place where everybody praised the great celestial object.
Rather than opening the door, Duke heaved his shield into the door to bash it down, then standing upon his broken trophy and issuing a shout throughout the dark corridors, "DEMONS, COME FORTH." He slashes his sword through the air, "LESS THY ARE TOO CHICKEN." words: 250 • tagged: open • music: link

MEN DON'T FEAR SWORDS. THEY FEAR MONSTERS.
Murderworld. Slaughterland. Either Death was as capricious as her title implied her to be, or she was just an indecisive fool. Whatever the case, nobody seemed to be able to settle on a name for this gore-splattered pastiche of an amusement park. It didn't really matter to the Lord Impaler, though; he always referred to it by his own special designation, one that certainly managed to align itself with his own take of the place – all-you-can-eat. Yet it seemed as though Slaughterland failed to live up to Vlad's usual expectations, a rare first in his five-hundred year stay in the realm of the dead. Not a single soul wandered around, either to hunt for other souls or to simply take a break from the mindless slaughter of Death's game. That is, until the former ruler of Wallachia caught wind of some idiot shouting challenges at the top of his lungs. Amidst the great deals of nothing going on, a lone man stood out, bedecked in a set of armor befitting a Crusader of the times, sword and shield in hand. The vampire's gaze narrowed into a murderous stare. Limited his options may have been, but Dracula would be more than a match for this knight in rusty armor. "Stare into the abyss, and it will inevitably stare back." Vlad called out from behind the armored man, watching him attempt to enter a ramshackle haunted house of sorts, noticing that the entire door had been torn from its hinges, likely by the same person. Unfazed by the possible difference in their strengths, the regal-looking vampire stepped forward, hands kept behind his back in a gesture of dubious cordiality. "Notwithstanding, only cowards and weaklings opt to use the shadows to hide from their enemies." He smiled with closed thin lips. "A true demon will bend that darkness to their every whim; they disorient their victims with it, rob them of their senses, slowly draining them of their will to fight." Dracula gyrated his neck slowly, vertebrae popping, before he finished his personal observations. "After all, it takes a demon to know how one functions. As a crusader, you should be able to identify with that philosophy, no?" tags - Duke Solusmuse - notes - shit tier taunt is shit |

| I am your beginning and your end Though there are many in which you seek your revenge on, you must do it carefully. No matter how damned the mind, you are allies until you reach battle. However, the battleground has no room for mercy. | 11 HP 10 MP +4 STRENGTH +4 ENDURANCE 0 MAGIC 0 BARRIER +2 DEXTERITY +2 SPEED | "Hmm.... What an interesting place" Vlad thought to himself as he went around the area of Slaughterland. From the sights of the area, he felt pretty had home, though he couldn't quite decide if the landscapes laid out before him were something he should enjoy, or dread. However, he continued onwards the the area in hopes that something to hold back his bloodthirst, even if it be only for a little while. As demise continued his trek through Slaughterland, he found himself coming onto an array of haunted houses. Though to most this would seem like a horrific place to be, this brought on a strange sense of peace inside of him. For the most part, it seemed as if this area wasn't bustling with noise, making the surrounding area peaceful. This did not last as in the surrounding area he heard the clash of a shield followed by the breaking of wood. Alarmed by this, Demise stuck to the walls in order not be ambushed from behind. "DEMONS, COME FORTH" was shouted as Demise found the location which housed the sounds he heard. From behind a building, Demise slightly peaked from behind a corner to see what the comotion was. The first thing he noticed was a man standing infront of an open door. Clearly this man was no one to be taking lightly with his confidence and heavy armor protecting his innards from showing their precious red liquids. However not too long after the man completed this action, in came another man who landed directly behind the armored guy. This man seemed to be very well spoken, almost as if he were to try and distill a sense of feer into the heart of this inquisitor. Though Demise didn't give much attention to what the man standing behind the inquisitor was saying, he did hear the word demon repeated several times throughout the sentence. Perhaps this man was one like he was. After waiting for the man to finish his conversation, he decided that he would reveal himself, hopefully to assist this self-proclaimed demon to defeat this inquisitor. Perhaps this could be an interesting dispute." Demise spoke, getting rather excited for the possible fight. You have asked for a demon, and now one has shown itself..... I believe now it is time for battle." Regardless of what the other two were to do, he reached towards his back as he gripped his scythe, getting into a battle ready position.

IT'S HAPPENING
A battle seemed to be preparing to rear its head within Death's little horror show within the Entertainment District. A holy knight, worshiper of the sun, meeting at the ready with two creatures of the night. However, the three would soon find out that the each of them were the least of their worries. Within the more literal haunted manor of Slaughterland, the floorboards began to crack and splinter, rotting flesh grabbing outward in blurs. The onslaught of hands grabbed at their ankles before finally finding a need for better leverage in pulling their shambling forms upward into the main hall. The lot of them seemed to twist and twirl into a great typhoon of flesh as they fell back, the walls preparing to collapse around them as they finally stood as a composed unit within the abandoned home. They paid no heed to the living, undead, or otherwise. They thought as one, their goal only to tear any other thing in their path apart in order to feast. The dead had risen, whether it have been by some twisted necromancer's hand or simply the well of souls within Tartarus growing restless in their near infinitesimal numbers. One of the zombies at the lead of the group stood head on at his opponents, oddly enough seeming competent as opposed to the others. He wore an oddly distorted mask, seeming to have once been composed of bone, now tainted by the darkness its shape held no definite structure, crags and protrusions flowing along its edges, though it left the mouth uncovered. Sadly these three would not recognize the apparent leader of this group, though he had been one of their number a relatively short time ago. Johnny Park, or possibly just the remains of the man, let out a terrible cackle before summoning a blade much grander than his previous. He held the massive thing out with one arm and the thirty of his band charged forward, ready to do battle with the three whether they were or not.

[googlefont="Mrs Saint Delafield:300"] LIVING LIFE JUST LIKE DEER IN HEADLIGHTS [attr="class","next"]A dark voice sunk into the knight's ears as he was prepared to enter the apparently abandoned building. It seemed the night had come to him this time rather than him having to seek it out. Good. "Stare into the abyss, and it will inevitably stare back." These words, this accent, it was somewhat recognizable. From the East. Wallachia.
The warrior grabbed hold of his silver blade, bringing it out of its sheath as he turned around to face this intruder. A haunting man to say the least, this man seemed to be of his time, something that only made him regard this threat as all the more alarming. Warriors of his time were without a doubt the most brutal, at least that is what he figured after facing many an excuse of a "modern warrior" in this land of death and agony. "Notwithstanding, only cowards and weaklings opt to use the shadows to hide from their enemies."
What was this white-haired creature speaking of, hiding in the shadows? This was gibberish, but out of respect of battle, he allowed his soon to be opponent to continue. "A true demon will bend that darkness to their every whim; they disorient their victims with it, rob them of their senses, slowly draining them of their will to fight." Oh, so that was it. The knight readied his shield, as it was now apparent. "After all, it takes a demon to know how one functions. As a crusader, you should be able to identify with that philosophy, no?" He was about to face a true devil.
"ENOUGH. I AM A WARRIOR OF THE LIGHT. SHADOWS ONLY HOLD WEAKNESS AND DESPAIR." Duke barked through the metal of his helmet, holding his sword out to the vampire, "I KNOW WHOM YOU ARE, THOUGH YOUR NAME ONLY HAS MEANING IN HISTORY, MUCH LIKE THE NIGHT OF YESTERDAY." He continued on, not bothering to even mention this man's name. If he was correct, this was none other than the ruthless Vlad the Impaler of Wallachia, and defeating him in battle would be a great justice, even in the afterlife. However, just as the knight was about to engage in noble battle, a third party revealed itself.
A man with a bone-like helmet and a cruel-looking scythe stepped from around the corner. This being gave off a similar aura to the great "vampire lord" standing in front of him, if not just a bit weaker. "You have asked for a demon, and now one has shown itself..... I believe now it is time for battle." So it was another creature of the night? Typical of them to gang up on him, these bastards had no idea what honor was.
"AND WHOM ARE YOU TO STEP INTO A BATTLE BETWEEN TWO MEN? A PETTY IMP, NIGH NOT A DEMON. NOW, YOU BOTH SHALL BE VANQUISHED BACK TO THE NIGHT FROM WHICH YOU CA-" The knight's speech was cut off by a loud shambling sound coming from the right of him, from the haunted building. How could he of forgotten? These two baboons had distracted him from his original task! A masked zombie wielding a mighty blade took the focus of the crusader's eyes, the hordes around him only seeming like a minor obstacle. "I WILL DISPOSE OF YOU FIENDS LATER. FOR NOW, WE FIGHT AS ONE AGAINST THE UNLIVING." He didn't want to work alongside such filth, but there was no other way to take down this menace. The knight grimly spoke, in a tone much lower than his usual boastful words, "The dead care not if we are mortal or demon." With those words, he charged forward, putting his sword in his left armpit to reach for a bottle of alcohol with a rag in it from his belt, before throwing this mysterious "potion" into the crowd ahead of him. Excellent, it had made a direct hit on one of those minor meatshields! Duke watched the creature collapse and die in a fury of flames as he continued his charge, reaching for his blade in his hand.
[ SUN POPPER USED. 5 FIRE MAGICAL DAMAGE DEALT. 1 ZOMBIE KILLED. ]
Duke then sprinted forward, thrusting his shield into one of the other nearby zombie's faces, knocking the creature back a bit. He then finished the assault by bringing his silver blade across the monster's neck, causing the undead's head to be knocked clear off in a spray of tainted deep red blood. The knight was showing considerable skill, and was starting to get cocky. These pathetic creatures weren't worth anything, there wasn't anything to be afraid of, and after the dead were vanquished, then so would those demons!
[ BASIC SHIELD BASH USED, 3 PHYSICAL DAMAGE. BASIC SWORD ATTACK USED, 5 PHYSICAL DAMAGE. 2 ZOMBIES KILLED. ]
However, in the fury and confusion of battle, the noble warrior was swarmed by five zombies, all which attacked him at alternating times. They all scraped at his joints, one scratching at his neck, and the others biting and clawing at his knees and elbows. This caused the warrior some pain even if his armor prevented them from doing any heavy damage, and definitely caused him to fall back a bit. He managed to break free from the swarm, only barely, taking yet another two attacks in the process.

MEN DON'T FEAR SWORDS. THEY FEAR MONSTERS.
"ENOUGH. I AM A WARRIOR OF THE LIGHT. SHADOWS ONLY HOLD WEAKNESS AND DESPAIR." Dracula stayed silent, watching the boisterous knight with an uncharacteristic twinge of masochism in his eyes as he unsheathed a blade of glittering silver. Even its very presence was enough to illicit a twitch or two, but the dreaded Lord Impaler knew better than to allow his warlord's spirit to waver in the face of a mere wall decoration. "I KNOW WHOM YOU ARE, THOUGH YOUR NAME ONLY HAS MEANING IN HISTORY, MUCH LIKE THE NIGHT OF YESTERDAY.""What drivel," Vlad spoke up, his thin, pale lips twisting into an evil smirk as he folded his hands behind his back, slender fingers toying with one another as though he were staving off the urge to strangle the helmet-wearing buffoon. "Assuming that my name holds no weight even in the afterlife..." The vampire's laser-like glare intensified, his face lowering until his long, platinum hair obscured some of his features. "Tens of thousands of were executed by my hand alone, and tens of thousands more by the hands of my armies." Slowly, he allowed his arms to fall to his sides before slightly lifting them, palms facing upward, as if to directly challenge the knight to make an attack against him. "And you are but one man, staring into the very heart of darkness itself. Your bravado holds no clout here, paladin."As if to emphasize his point, a third party came practically swooping onto the scene for the both to process at their discretion. Raven black hair, skin as pale as the moonlight, eyes permanently fixed to be vacant and devoid of all human emotion. There was another, then? Most intriguing, the vampire mused. It seems as though the self-proclaimed warrior of the light found himself facing off against uneven odds – however, the latter chose to express indignation for the newcomer's intrusion, berating him for his nature as a fledgling vampire. Vlad tutted condescendingly as he wagged a finger at the knight, "You of all people should know better than to issue a challenge to an enemy you know nothing about, warrior."While the tension between the party of three continued to grow, the silver-haired tyrant sensed a shift in the winds. The atmosphere of the slaughter-themed amusement park swelled and grew heavier, almost as if though a number of invisible presences had suddenly came into being. Not even several seconds later, the well-mannered vampire turned his attentions toward the sounds of splintering wood and nails carving into the planks of the haunted house, unnatural groans and gurgling following shortly afterward. One by one, over thirty rotting corpses scrambled their way out of the floors beneath them, reanimated by magics most foul, and all of them led by a blood-stained, sword-wielding figure that donned a toothy mask that resonated with an aura of unbridled, unmatched insanity. "I WILL DISPOSE OF YOU FIENDS LATER. FOR NOW, WE FIGHT AS ONE AGAINST THE UNLIVING." Dracula softly chuckled, almost casually watching him spring into action like the paragon of courage and virtue he claimed to be. A strange concoction was thrown, a zombie had caught fire, sword and shield was tossed around with barbaric intent; what sloppy technique. Still, he was faring far more effectively than even the Count was currently able to – the lack of equipment or noteworthy spells would make it difficult for him to land any solid damage. Instead, the Lord Impaler would do what he naturally does best in such a situation. He began to scheme. "You. Fellow vampire," Dracula called out to the other pale-skinned Champion without averting his eyes from the main threat at hand, his stance rigid and austere, as if he were trying to command respect with his mere presence alone. "I regret to inform you that I will not be of much use in this brawl. Our self-righteous 'compatriot' over there made sure to reinforce this fact." He pointed to the warrior of light, then glanced in the other vampire's general direction, a fanged grin revealing itself for him to see. "However, I will not allow this buffoon to seize the opportunity for valuable experience. Shall we conspire to turn the tides in our favor and think of a plan of action?" If the other blood-sucking fiend had any amount of common sense, he'd do well to take up the Count's offer; after all, strength would most certainly come in numbers during this fight. |

Though there was one thing that angered Demise and made him itch for the death of the man willing to face him. Demise would not stand here as he was called a mere imp by this foolish math. Filled with anger, Demise was about to launch an attack at The Inquisitor as the ground began to rumble around them and cracks could be heard around him. Something unexpected was about to happen. Up from the ground around them came out strange hands of rotten and dying flesh. It was something out of a horror movie, and it was about to happen. Finally, digging themselves out of the ground came up a few dozen of the undead. From observing the crowd he could see that there was nothing special about these who have risen from their graves. They seemed to be slow, unable to withstand a simple blow from a blade. However, one of them stood out from the crowd. He had join the dead recently. Most of his flesh was still intact, and he seemed much more durable than the rest. The battle of three turned into an all out battle royale. The Inquisitor was quick to jump to conclusions, which could lead to a quick demise in battle. It seemed as if The Inquisitor thought that just because a few from the undead came to join their battle, they'd be willing to ignore their original target. With this thought in mind, The Inquisitor quickly began battle with the undead as he brought two of the feeble things down with two simple blows. Though due to The Inquisitor's careless fighting, he found himself struggling with several of the undead. The actions displayed eased the mind of Demise. If this is what he had to worry about, there would be no issues in the upcoming battle. Seeing one of them slowly approaching the side of him, Demise quickly swung his scythe towards the direction, bringing the undead back to their peaceful resting once again.

Bringing his scythe back to him as he prepared for another attack, he was caught by surprise when the man known as Vlad approached him. Vlad began to explain about his situation in the afterlife, though Demise didn't much care for the man's situation. However, the man proposed that they should conspire together so thy may survive this encounter and still take down their target, which was something Demise considered to be useful to their situation. "If you believe that there is need to think when versing such a pathetic soul, then be it. You seem to be someone trustworthy in battle, so do enlighten me on what you think we should do."

[googlefont="Mrs Saint Delafield:300"] LIVING LIFE JUST LIKE DEER IN HEADLIGHTS [attr="class","next"]Foul demons, disgusting pieces of trash, the mighty knight absolutely refused to die to this swarm of cannon fodder. Something raged from inside of him; had he really grown this soft, had his skills really deteriorated this much? Perhaps it was time to bring this farce to a close, no, not here, it wasn't the proper setup. The crusader needed a true introduction, not just ordinary one would do. It had to be grandeur, it had to be the absolute best, it had to be everything. He would not fall. A zombie approached his right, and with complete determination and concentration, he sliced the monster's head from its shoulders in a single swipe. His silver was tainted with the rotted blood of the undead, something that disgusted the knight, but he hadn't time to clean it at this time. [ -5 PHYSICAL DAMAGE. ZOMBIE KILLED ] Another undead was at his left, something that he was able to stun with a swift shield bash. Duke's eyes and mind were completely focused on battling the dead, so the petty devils he was interacting with before had fleeting him. The monster he was about to sink his weapon into had her jaw knocked off by the heavy metal. This one was particularly decayed, though he could at least tell it had feminine features. He thought. In a manner identical to how he slayed the other attacker, he decapitated the diseased wench. [ -7 PHYSICAL DAMAGE. ZOMBIE KILLED. ] There were still a lot more, and as much as it hurt his pride, it would be a tactful decision to retreat a few yards. Bashing a couple zombies with his sword and shield to fend them off, he then turned and ran back. His pace was slow due to all of the armor he was wearing, though he didn't plan on going far, only running about twenty feet before turning on his heel to face the horde once more. Perhaps if the leader was taken out, the assault would cease to be as coordinated as it was. That was usually how these battles played out. With that thought, the crusader dropped his shield and sword, both items impaling the land from their weight and sticking into it. He then took forth three swirling green potions from his belt, the same place that he had pulled the earlier fire bomb from, and lifted up the bottom of his helmet, being careful to not fully reveal his face. The warrior took not one, not two, but all three potions at once, chugging them down as if they had no flavor whatsoever. If one knew anything about these potions, this was perhaps the most impressive thing done in this thread thus far. [ 3 PATHETIC MAGIC BOOSTER POTIONS CONSUMED. +6 MAG FOR 2 POSTS. ] The knight then formed his hands in the shape of a circle and got into a firm stance. As the orb grew bigger, the winds picked up, this energy clearly having some power behind it, thanks to those potions. Duke looked directly at the ginger-haired leader of this horde, then pulling back his arms and shouting at him at the top of his lungs, " SUUUUUUUUUUNLIIIIIIIIIIIGHT---" His hands went forward and with it, a large beam of energy constructed from pure light was sent forth directly at the sword-wielding leader of the monsters. MEN DON'T FEAR SWORDS. THEY FEAR MONSTERS.
It had taken nary a moment for the other vampire to dispose of the masked ghoul's zombie henchman before relaying his willingness to cooperate with the Lord Impaler. How utterly delightful; someone who was open to listen to him for a change? He was even called trustworthy, notwithstanding the fact that he usually inclined himself to stay true to his own word every chance he had. Admittedly he felt a pang of disappointment – after all, resistance made the hunt all the more exciting – but it was an ephemeral feeling, removed and forgotten as quickly as it had come. "We use the surroundings to our advantage," Dracula revealed to the other bloodsucker, paying close attention through his peripheral vision to the ongoing carnage taking place between the self-proclaimed holy knight and the former Champion's platoon of the unliving. "The floorboards are unstable and could be collapsed, as could the ceiling and any fixtures attached to it." His emotionless eyes darted every which way, taking note of any furniture used to decorate the haunted house in order to give the place some natural ambiance. "Anything and everything can be employed to seize a victory from the enemy's hands."Even as the ginger ghoul's zombie hordes lunged past the knight and made a beeline straight for the two conversing vampires, they failed to illicit a reaction from the Lord Impaler, his pale face as unmoving and rigid as solid marble itself. Instead, the former warlord patiently waited until one of the creatures closed distance with him, then allowed it to reach forward with rotted, maggot-infested arms. [ ZOMBIE ATTACKS VLAD. ] [ 1 STR + –2 DEX vs. 2 DEX. ] [ ATTACK AVOIDED. ] With a single vertical leap upward, Vlad had used the attacker's own head as a stepping stone in order to vault his way up toward the second floor, landing nimbly atop a dust-covered wooden railing, directing his austere gaze downward at the scythe-wielding vampire. In the heat of it all, he watched as the paladin consumed quite a handful of colored fluids before gathering what obviously was sunlight energy, discharging it as a beam of unmatched brightness which, naturally, made the platinum-haired man wince. Truly, he was a warrior of the sun. But there was only so much light he could shed before the darkness would rush in to consume him... "How you choose to dispose of these weaklings is up to you, seeing as I do not have access to my full potential yet." Vlad called down to the green-eyed vampire, folding his arms into his chest as he watched him expectantly. "Should you manage to survive this little ordeal, I will make it widely worth your hard effort," An impish smile followed. "Honest pay for honest work." |

| I am your beginning and your end Though there are many in which you seek your revenge on, you must do it carefully. No matter how damned the mind, you are allies until you reach battle. However, the battleground has no room for mercy. | 15 HP 10(+1) MP +4 (+1) STRENGTH +8 (+1) ENDURANCE 0 (+1) MAGIC 0 (+1) BARRIER +8 (+3) DEXTERITY +6 (+1) SPEED | ((No one wrote rather or not it was night or day, so I'm gonna be a dick and say it's night))
Luckily, to the benefit of Demise, the other creature of the night seemed very willing to work along side him. He knew very well that he would not need the help of Vlad, however it is always nice to have allies. It seemed from the discussion that he had with Vlad that the plan was to use their surroundings to benefit the situation. This did not matter much inside the mind of Demise. There was no doubt that he would use direct force if necessary. There was a particular sentence that Vlad picked out that stuck with him; Reward. From the one sided conversation Vlad was having with Demise, there was a reward of some sort to helping him out. This was the perfect situation for Demise, getting paid to shed blood on a field of terror. Though Demise was far away from the plan he had originated from, he felt very at home. Without much warning, Demise noticed that there was a rather large group of zombies that were heading towards him. Quickly turning to face them, he noticed that in the distance, there was a battle going on between the leader of the zombies, and the Inquisitor. What the mindless zombies weren't aware of as they charged relentlessly his way was that the night they were surrounded by fuled him, filling him with the power to fight. Taking a second to bask in its glory, he allowed himself to be hit by one of the undead.
[-2DEX + 1STR= -1DAM. Melee chip damage applied]
Though the attack of the undead was sloppy, it filled him the the desire to fight. With the rush of battle in him, he quickly moved backwards to avoid any further damage from the hordes of undead. With quickness in his movement, Demise positioned his scythe so that he could cut through soft tissue of several the undead, swinging his scythe with as much damage as possible.
[7STR+11DEX = 16 DAM] [4 Zombies HP Total = 20] [16 DAM - -1 END x 4 = 0 DAM Left... 4 ZOMBIES KILLED]
With a successful swing of his blade, Demise was able to easily cut through four of the zombies with a swing of his blade. There was a smile of glee on Demise's face as blood surfaced from the wounds of the undead. Demise quickly looked back and noticed that Vlad had repositioned himself onto the second floor. Using agile moves, Demise quickly followed Vlad, hoping to catch up to him.
